Global health nonprofit Parasites Without Borders (PWB) announces annual campaign to raise funds to support the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC<\/a>). From May 1 to July 31, 2025, all donations made to PWB will be matched and donated to FIMRC, and no matter how many donations are received, PWB pledges a minimum donation of $10,000 and a total gift of up to $20,000. These funds provide the necessary healthcare for low-resource and medically underserved families from around the world.<\/p>\n

FIMRC is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that works to improve access to care through innovative and self-sustaining health programs. FIMRC works alongside communities to improve health from the ground up – including building out necessary infrastructure, like constructing or updating buildings; ensuring communities have access to a healthcare professional; and educating on preventative health. In 2024, 27,000 patients received care; 3,000 children grew healthier through health and nutrition programs; 16,000 vaccination doses were delivered; and 461 healthy babies were delivered.<\/p>\n

“What FIMRC accomplishes is incredible,” shares Dr. Daniel Griffin, MD, PhD, co-founder and president of Parasites Without Borders. “Their unwavering efforts provide healthcare to those that need it most – and most often in areas with little to no resources. When you see it with your own eyes, as I have in Uganda, you understand how critical this support is. I am eager to return this spring.”<\/p>\nFIMRC’s<\/a> goals for 2025 include establishing a fully operational public health and volunteer program at Project Huancayo in Peru – and they’re excited to announce they’ve officially restarted operations there earlier this year. Project Huancayo addresses healthcare disparities in the Andean highlands, serving underserved children, teen mothers and vulnerable families. Another big project in 2025 is rebuilding capacity in Project Bududa in Uganda, particularly through volunteer collaboration. Project Bududa is a fully licensed and registered health center that
\nsees between 25,000 to 30,000 patients per year, addressing locally prevalent issues including malaria, HIV, tuberculosis, and maternal and child healthcare.\n

During 2024, 242 dedicated volunteers contributed their time and skills across FIMRC project sites. Volunteers work side-by-side with staff and medical professionals who are on the front lines addressing real-world health challenges.
