Tetanus

As Tetanus Vaccination Rates Decline, Doctors Worry About Rising Case Numbers
In 1948, when the tetanus vaccine was first combined with diphtheria and pertussis, 601 cases of tetanus were reported in the U.S. In recent years, that has dropped to about 15 to 28 annual cases. In 2024, however, there were 32 cases. In 2025, at least 37 confirmed cases have been reported.

Measles

Total Cases in the U.S. Highest in 25 Years:
There have now been more measles cases in 2025 than in any other year since the contagious virus was declared eliminated in the United States in 2000. As of December 30, 2025, a total of 2,065 confirmed measles cases were reported in the United States.

Influenza

Most Flu Cases Ever Recorded in One Week for New York
The New York State Department of Health's most recent data shows a total of 71,123 positive flu cases reported for the seven days ending December 20, 2025, the most that the Department has ever recorded in one week since influenza was made reportable in 2004. This is a rise of 38 percent over the previous week. There have been 189,312 positive flu cases reported in New York this season to date. Hospitalizations due to influenza climbed by 63 percent, up from 2,251 in the previous week to 3,666 across the State.
