Nonprofits Partner to Bring Listeners Infectious Disease Puscast

Global medical nonprofits create a unique platform to make critical information more accessible

NEW YORK CITY, New York (February 6, 2023) – Parasites Without Borders (PWB), a global nonprofit that brings the latest medical information on diseases caused by parasites to the people and places that need it most, has partnered with MicrobeTV, an independent network of podcasts for people who are interested in the life sciences, to bring listeners Infectious Disease Puscast. Hosted by Daniel Griffin and Sara Dong, Infectious Disease Puscast aims to be a trusted and accessible tool to help busy clinicians, researchers, students, and citizen scientists keep up-to-date on the latest infectious disease literature. It is also a reboot of a popular podcast by Infectious Disease Specialist Mark Crislip called simply PusCast.

Infectious Disease Puscast is co-hosted by Dr. Griffin and Sara Winn Dong, MD, and is released bi-monthly. In each episode, the doctors discuss the newest and most relevant findings in the field of infectious diseases. Dr. Daniel Griffin is a physician-scientist, board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease with expertise in Global Health, Tropical Medicine, Parasitology, and Virology. Dr. Sara Dong is a combined adult and pediatric infectious diseases fellow. She completed her internal medicine residency and then served as chief resident at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She is currently completing a fellowship at Boston Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Boston Children’s Hospital.

“The growing global population, rapid urbanization of the world, and effects of rapid climate change have left billions of individuals susceptible to a variety of infectious diseases,” said Dr. Griffin. “Things that industrialized societies take for granted, such as uncontaminated food and water, are not a given for the rest of the world. They constantly run the risk of ingesting any number of organisms that can cause them great harm. Having the knowledge to combat these risks is critical. It can save lives.”
